City of Guelph Services Review: First 75 Ranked

Share

Guelph City Council has finally launched an exhaustive process to review all of the approximately 300 municipal services the city offers. The goal of the review is to ensure what is being offered is being effectively and efficiently done so, even if that means some services will no longer be offered by the city but other partners.

Each year for the next 4 years, Councillors will look at  75 services and rank from most to least important. While there will be conflicts of whats important to one councillor over another, I see this processes as welcome change from years past. It is important that councillors learn about the different services our tax dollars go to. Hopefully, they will then realize that some of the services provided are actually very impoertant to the operation of this city and its citizens.

A City Festival: Celebrate Guelph!

Share

One upon a time, Guelph had Streetfest, and when that folded, Guelphfest. These fantastic community festivals brought thousands into Downtown Guelph and celebrated our city. In the last few years, we have not had either of these festivals to celebrate our city. John Galt Day has been so-so on attracting people and lacks community organizational help, as stated by the Recreation & Parks Department Director. Now is the time to bring back that kind of festival but in a bigger and better celebration of our community!

I purpose creating a week long event called “Celebrate Guelph! “- A celebration of all things Guelph. From History to Food and everything in between, it will bring Guelphities closer together, help people re-discover the city and bring people back (homecoming type of thing) home.
